Stripper Tips – Getting Your Stripper Look Right

The lifelines for any stripper are Clothes, Make Up & Hair, Shoes.

Stripper Look Tips #1: Your Clothes.

stripper-clothesWhen you decide on your look, you will first need to find out from the club that you decide to work at what the dress code is. In Some clubs you may have to wear

1) long dresses
2) short dresses
3) bikinis
4) any stripper outfit

Make sure you find out before buying anything. If you can go to a shop and buy your outfit, that is the best as you can try it on, but if there isn’t a shop where you can buy these clothes where you are, order on the internet. Make sure you order from places that will accept a return. I have put people on the site that I know are good and do accept returns

When you find out what you can wear at the club, also find out what type of underwear/thong you will need as there are laws in certain places which restrict the kind of thong you can wear. Also find out if there is a minimum heel you will need.

When you do buy something which you like make sure it showcases your best feature. If you are a legs girl make sure you have a short dress or a long one with a very long split. If you have a great cleavage (lucky you!) then buy an outfit which emphasises your chest. Also buy something which makes you feel sexy, as your confidence will shine through

Make sure that you can remove it easily without having to fiddle too much. In fact before starting work, practice taking it off smoothly while moving. It will make you feel confident when you do it in from of the customer

Buy at least 2 garters. If you do not know what they are, go to a lingerie shop and ask for one, they will tell you what it is, or lookit up on the net. When you put it on wear it where you can see it and you are aware of it, usually your money will be attached to it. If you are allowed a purse try and get one which you feel comfortable holding and literally become part of your extended arm…you will want to keep hold of that purse for dear life.

If you are not allowed purses a great way to hold your money is on a garter. Fold it over your garter in half and put a rubber band around it. Make sure it is tight.

Stripper Looks Tips #2: Your Hair & Make Up

Make sure you buy make up that is of good quality, since you will be wearing it for hours, you don’t want to get spots. Buy the best foundation that matches your skin colour (or your tanned skin colour) the best.

Emphasis your best asset…whether that is your lips or your eyes. In fact experiment for a week with different looks and see what works best for you.

In a dark club you will need to put make up on darker than usual. Do not worry if in the changing room you look like a drag queen. Just check what it looks like in the club.

Make sure you take all your make up to the club asyou will need to touch up during the night, make sure you also take nail varnish and remover, tweezers and make up remover.

stripper-tips-clothes1A lot of girls wear false lashes. This can look fantastic if you use the right leghnth. My advice on this is to experiment. Also practice wearing them before work as they can feel heavy and irritating on the eye if you are not used to them.

Make sure you get your nails and hair done before working. Your hair should look and smell great. Make sure that it looks like it has been done, not just like an ordinary girl- you need to look special

Do not wear any slippery lotion or oil that may get the pole slippery and cause accidents

Stripper Looks Tips #3: Your Shoes

stripper-shoes1Make sure you have asked the club what type of shoes you have to wear. If you don’t have to be particular, make sure you try on as many as you can. I personally look for ones with a strap and a 3-5 inch heel. Make sure you practice dancing around your house for hours before going to work.

I would also buy non slip pads to put on the bottom of these shoes so that when you dance on stage there are no embarrassing falls.

Eyelashes are a MUST! I had one flamboyant manager in San Francisco who always said, “Girlfriend…I don’t care how long your lashes are…they aren’t long enough!”

And don’t forget…above everything else make yourself stand out! I tend to wear long flowing robes when everyone else is wearing a skimpy bikini.

    Hi Mia,

Your blog is so helpful! I have a question (and maybe a blog idea for you) – what kinds of exercises should strippers do to do the kinds of things that can make us more successful?

I imagine for certain floor moves, the push-up, and some kind of exercise allowing us to lift ourselves on the pole better… what else do you recommend?

    Ambrosia

  3. Mia on May 18th, 2009 3:37 pm

    Hi Ambrosia

Thank you. I am so glad it is helpful for you…and it is a good blog idea….maybe i can answer it here and perhaps have comments on it?

For pole exercises i would definatly build up arm stregnth so that you are able to lift your body weight with your arms. I would recommend using a bar and trying to pull yourself above it like chin ups. I would also make sure all the muscles in your arm are worked out, including your wrist, arm and biceps and triceps. If you need exercises that do this i would recommend getting a trainer for one session and ask which exercises are best for these areas. I use weights in my hands and rotate my wrist with them in my hand both clockwise and anticlockwise. Also I would use exercise machines in the gym to build different parts of my arms and shoulders.I also would get my back stronger as you want it to be supporting you while you are flinging yourself on the pole. I would also increase your flexiblity by stretching in the morning before you get out of bed. I have a friend who got to do the splits in 6 weeks by doing beyond comfortable stretching in the morning while she was in bed…i was amazed! If you do increase your flexibilty you can be impressive on the pole by doing splits etc
As a dancer i learned that it is really important to also make sure your ankles are strong by doing ankle rotations. This will help you grasp the pole with your ankles and also will allow you to keep sturdy in your heels even if you do trip up

I hope that helps and i would love feedback from anyone who has some ideas

Hi, though I am a male, I have some experience in the exercises you need. They have foundations in basic acrobatics, aerialist, and circus work. As Mia said, arm strength is key, and pull ups and other inversions hanging from a horizontal bar are very good for this. This will also help you with grip strength, which is just as important.

The other place you will really want to concentrate is your core / soaz muscles. This will allow you to gracefully come out of backbends, and to pull your torso up vertical while hanging upsidedown, without having to use your arms.

A great place to learn these skills is a local circus school, most big cities (SF, NY, ATL) have them, where you can practice on swinging trapeze and hanging silks. Once you’ve mastered these dynamic aerial apparati, a fixed pole will seem simple and fun! If you don’t have a circus school around, install a pullup bar or a swing from a tree or high cieling and practice on that. Or, just go to an advanced yoga class.

Mia, thank you so much for this site, it is a real eye opener!

    Best,
    Theory

Making yourself stand out is important. Don’t feel like you have to “fit in” – the strip club is not the place to conform!

  7. leaxy on September 19th, 2009 4:21 am

When you applay the to become dancer do the have to fill out the application as regular job. thank you leaxy.

  8. Mia on September 20th, 2009 8:08 pm

    Hi LEaxy,

In most decent clubs that are run properly they will ask you to fill out details so that they can check you are legal and able to work in USA. This is for thier protection. If they do not, I am sure the club also allows other things to slip by them as well
    Good luck

This was a superb article. I have been dancing for several years and Image is everything. After a while I found my creativity outgrew the local clothing and shoe shops.dancersers today need to stand out at prices that are afordable. After all the first rule in business (even the dancing business) is ‘It is not what you make, it is what you keep!

  12. Newbie on October 22nd, 2009 1:46 am

I have a strange and embarrassing question – what do you do if it’s “that time of the month”???

Do you just give up your income for a week? Are there secrets that the older girls know of? Especially if you’re working in a nude club?

Sorry, but somebody had to ask!

  13. mia on October 23rd, 2009 10:16 pm

    Hi Newbie,

    That is a great question,

some girls just do not work, and others use a Tampon and cut the string so it is really discreet…although be very careful doing this to make sure you can take it out again…some girls have also dyed the string to match with thier own pubic hair using vegetable dye so that it is safe

    Thanks for asking

  14. Kit on January 16th, 2010 12:00 pm

Are there dancers with short hair? I’ve only ever seen flowing locks.

  15. CARLA PRUITT on January 25th, 2010 8:47 am

I’VE BEEN A DANCER AS WELL AS A SHOWER PERFORMER FOR HEAVY METAL CONCERTS IN FLORIDA FOR 11 YEARS. I HAVE ALWAYS HAD VERY THIN STRAIGHT HAIR LONG HAIR AND I WEAR A FEW ROWS OF CLIP IN LONG EXTENSIONS, MY HAIR IS ALSO DYED BLOND. I ALWAYS MAKE BETTER MONEY WHEN I TAKE THE TIME TO PUT SPIRAL CURLS IN IT, BUT IT TAKES ME ALMOST 2 HRS TO DO MY HAIR WHEN I CURL IT USING HOT ROLLERS AND A CURLING IRON AND SET IT WITH AUSSIE HAIR SPRAY. AND I HAVE TO KEEP RE CURLING IT SEVERAL TIMES DURING MY SHIFT AT WORK. SOME DAYS I DON’T HAVE THE TIME TO DO IT OR I JUST DON’T FEEL LIKE DOING IT. MY QUESTION IS, IS THERE A BETTER, FASTER WAY TO SPIRAL CURL MY HAIR THAT WILL ACTUALLY HOLD FOR A WHILE AND WITH MINIMAL TOUCH UPS? CAN YOU SUGGEST A BETTER TECHNIQUE OR STYLING PRODUCT?

  16. mia on February 16th, 2010 2:06 pm

    Hi Kit

There are loads of dancers with short hair.
I think a short haircut done in the right way can be very sexy

Look at Meg Ryan when she was younger

  17. mia on February 16th, 2010 2:08 pm

    Hi Carla

    In terms of your hair,
Have you thought of getting a perm?

It will be less work and a loose perm will give you a spiral look

But your way seems like a lot of work

I hope you try the perm way
    Good luck

  18. Eva on February 17th, 2010 12:22 am

    Hi Mia,

I was just curious if someone can be “too tall” to be a stripper. I’m 5′11″. Even with 3 inch heels I tower over most guys. It doesn’t help that I’m pretty self conscious about it as well. I know that a lot of guys like tall girls, but is 5′11″ too tall?

  19. Allison on February 23rd, 2010 7:35 pm

just to add on about to do with long hair and how to keep your curls.
I don’t dance but I’m a cosmetologist and have really long hair. There are a couple things.
Don’t wash your hair as much like every two days
Kendra 23 is by far the best hairspray I have ever found.
    Amazing!
also when your hair is damp not wet, add in stying lotion
enjoy has a great one, but may he a lil tricky finding because its so new but
    Amazing!
    Have u tried barrel curls?
Have u tried a curling iron?
    they will hold better :)

  23. mia on March 1st, 2010 4:43 pm

    Hi LAysha

The tip is to tailor yourself for the customer. If you really want to learn the person I have to send you to is Jessica. She teaches girls how to get the VIPs and she tailors it by finding out what you are doing wrong/right so I cannot help you as she can. With me she actually changed my beliefs and thoughts about guys and that changed my earnings.

I wish I could help more but I cannot really know what you are doing so can only give you limited answers. But I hope you learn from her and come and give us an update

  24. Lilmomma on March 8th, 2010 6:38 pm

I am considering this as a career, However, i am very concerned about what my family will think, also I just had a baby, and still am needing to get into better shape before i would be comfortable being naked in front of people, any suggesions??

  25. mia on March 12th, 2010 11:06 am

    Hi Lilmomma

If you are concerned about what your family will think you will need to work somewhere out of town where they are not likely to be. Although it should be very unlikely that they would find out, it still is a possibility…although rare

Also it is your and your childs life, so you need to decide if this is going to make the quality of both your life better( and it will if you treat it right and learn how to make money)
So if your family do not approve, they need to deal with it as you are out there doing something great for you and your family. Nobody comes and gives it to you…right?

    In terms of bosy

the best weight loss i have found is exercise using weights and cardio and sticking to 1200-1500 calories a day

It really works and if you make sure those calories are from healthy food like fruit and vegetables you will find that you getto eat a lot and will be healthy too

Aim to exercise 5 time s a week

You will see 2-3 pounds drop off every week if you are strict with this

    Goos luck

hi i was thinking bout stripping for the first time andi have just had a baby i have 3 embarresing questions.
1.i have a few streatch marks on either side of my inner thighs right at my underwear line is there anything that could hide them? would i still get work?
2.what is the usual style the girls use for waxing down there?
3.what should i do for a routine when i have neve stripped before?

  28. Kristi on April 4th, 2010 1:39 am

Hey Mystique!…I danced for the first time a few weeks ago and my opinion as someone new,.. a lot of the establishments tend to have black lights etc that hides skin issues very well. I have a huge scar on my back from a surgery and you cannot see it on the stage. Also there are a lot of other girls that don’t have the best complexion and have stretch marks from having kids etc and you cannot tell in most of those lights. From what I’ve seen at the few clubs I’ve been to, most of the women are shaved completely but I’m sure that varies across the country/world. As far as a routine, just be natural, be yourself,.. you don’t necessarily need a “routine” as you wouldn’t want to look “too rehearsed”. I am new to this business but have performed on stage throughout my entire life. You’re there to entertain and a lot of it is your personality and flirting as well. If you be yourself, you’ll be fine! I wish you all the best!!!!!!

  29. mia robbins on April 7th, 2010 1:12 pm

Hi Angela, You do not have to worry about teeth as no girl in the club is perfect and it is your flaws that make you beautiful and characteristic. I wouldn’t worry about it. If it really bothers you then after a couple of months you will have the money to fix them

    Mia xx

  30. mia robbins on April 7th, 2010 1:16 pm

Hey Mystique, I would agree what Kristi says…..she is right on. Do not worry aboutmarks as it is dark and no one really can see them and as I have said before no girl is perfect in the club.
Some girls wax or remove their hair permanently with laser, but most girls just shave as the time it takes to grow your hair out for re waxing is too long. And as Kristi said, just be natural and relaxed…watch some you tube videos and you should just copy them. You will also pick up things as you work as the girls will show you moves when they are on stage

    Good Luck

  33. adena blaze on April 21st, 2010 5:36 am

    Hey Mia!!!

I’m about to turn 20, and just moved into a town that is LOADED with strip clubs, and ive been looking for a job for 6 months straight now, and NO LUCK, so of course im looking into becoming a stripper now… but i have a few questions to ask you that i hope you can help me with:

first: im your average/slightly chunky girl, my breasts and butt are fine, but i have some cellulite, how noticeable is that in the club?

second: WEDGIES… OMGGG we all get them but because my ass is large it makes cute boyshorts look like a thong, do you know how to stop that from happening??? im a 42/36/45

third: i have a bad scar from skin cancer removal on the back of my leg, it is dark purple almost black on top of my pale skin… would makeup make it disappear in that lighting???

also if you could message me back over email i would greatly appreciate it, maybe i could even send you some pics of my problem areas for a second opinion

    thanks so much!
    adena blaze

  34. adena blaze on April 21st, 2010 6:13 am

ALSO lol my bad! i meant to ask you HOW long do you think id have to work at the club to afford a boob job??? i know most girls go in with little boobs/saggy boobs, and then after being there for a while they have huge perky ones… how long does it usually take???

    thanks again
    !

  35. mia on April 22nd, 2010 1:49 pm

    Hi Country

    Thank you for your question,

I really don’t know if any of the creams work…maybe the girls here would know? I think just good toning exercises should help with that. Or you may just have to find ways not to get into that position.

Also In terms of irritation, do you mean after you shave? Because non perfumed deodarant after shaving helps with that

    I hope that helps
    Mia xx

  36. mia on April 22nd, 2010 1:54 pm

    Hi Adena Blaze,

You will find most girls have cellulite. ANd most of teh time it is not very noticable as it is dark. And most guys are not interested or notice cellulite

With Wedgies, I think it is probably a good idea for you to find underwear that is flattering to you

That is why I like wearing thongs…Try different cuts of underewear and you will find one that fits well.

If you go shopping you will find different cuts, try out some and you will find that best one for you.

The skin scar can be covered with either thicker foundation or actors amke up which you can buy at specialist stores.

    I hope that helps
    Mia xx

  37. mia on April 22nd, 2010 1:56 pm

    Hi Adena

when you will be able to afford a boob job will vary depending on how much money you make.

You could make the money for your boob job in one night or it could take you months

The best person to learn how to make money is Jessica Simmonds. She will teach you how to get those boobs asap.www.howtostripper.com

But please only get breasts if they are for you and not for the job.

She will also message you to answer any questions
    Good luck

    Hi Mia,

I really like your blog, its full of so much useful info! I’ve been thinking about maybe starting dancing for a couple years…school is super expensive and its getting me down…but it also sounds like something I might enjoy, since I have gone with my girlfriends and we always have a blast! I just have a few questions for you:

    1) I don’t know if my “figure issues” are as common, but I haven’t read as much about them on your site. My boobs are big, I mean, really big, like 36DD big. While they look great in a well-fitted bra, I’ve always been a bit concerned about what they look like out and free…my aereolas are very big also (a bit smaller than the palm of my hand), which is my main cause of concern. As I mentioned, I’ve been to a few strip clubs and the girls always seem to have small-medium breasts that are super perky with tiny little nipples. Maybe I’m being paranoid, I just wanted your opinion.

    2) My “fat” problem is almost all concentrated in my tummy. I’m just trying to fix up my little pooch before I audition: I’m running/walking for 45 minutes before breakfast each morning. Just wondering if you have any more tips for taming especially that area as my butt/thighs are fine, I really need to concentrate here.

    3) When you go to audition, you said you will have to dance for the manager. Will you be having to dance nude/topless at your audition, or just in a more revealing outfit (like one you would wear to work), or even in normal clothes? Just want to be prepared :)

  39. mia on May 6th, 2010 9:41 am

    Hi veronica

    Thank you for the questions

    1) Your breasts sound great . Most men and women will envy you for such natural breasts. You do not have to worry about the areola sizes, Girls in most strip clubs come in all shapes an sizes. You will have to be toned though. So do not worry. Once you get to a club you will realise that your breasts will be a great asset

    2) In terms of losing weigh on your tummy. Here is the secret, you need to get rid of as much fat as you can ( and you are doing the right thing with the running) Make sure you also stick to under 1500 calories a day and no carbs after 5 pm
Also you should do stomach exercises that will pull your stomach in from all angles. So here are some exercises that will do that.
Do Crunches for the middle and top ( do 50 a day)
Do bicycle crunches for your side muscles- where you cycle your legs and reach for your knees right and left while you crunch up – 50 of these
And the final exercie is the lower leg lifts…make sure you pull in your stomach and support your lower back and if you can hold some weights in between your ankles to make it work

If you do these you will find fast restults, but it will take effort

    3) More then likely you will have to dance nude or topless in the clotehs you will work in or a long sexy dress

    Good luck
    Mia xx

  40. Julia on June 13th, 2010 8:14 pm

At first, thank you for your great site. I have found here almost all answers I needed. Except maybe the questions concerning the most intimate thing there between the stripgirl’s legs…

    1. I’m going to audition in full-nude club where the most part of stripdance including poledance I must be totally naked showing also all of my intimates. But I am pretty different down there when comparing to other girls. From videos I have seen all of the strippers have average or small slit deep between their legs. But my pussy is totally opposite – I am slim girl with very flat belly and thin legs with wide gap between them. That makes my pubic mound (bone) very high standing out of my body in front of. Also my pussylips are hanging very long out of my body being so prominently visible in every position both from front and behind me.
So here I have my question I hadn’t found an answer nowhere – is this kind of pussy good or bad thing for stripper, both technically (in example in poledancing) and aestethically (visually for customers)? Of course I think it depends a lot also on taste of managers’ who will look at my body during audition but maybe there’s still common thoughts about it too?

    2. Now the second one is shorter question but also about the same detail of body – When going to my first audition is it best to shave the pubic hair completely off or let some patch or stripe there? What is the common and preferred practice today for nude stripper? I have seen both and can’t decide. Unfortunately I can’t also ask it directly from the club now.

    3. The most embarrassing question – If I happen unintentionally to drive myself really sexually arousing during my show, how about it? Is it OK or must I avoid it? How are the usual stripgirls, do they just do their boring routine or do they enjoy also themselves during the performance, too? I tend to get really wet down there very easily caused by some stimulation (like from the pole, etc). Can this cause any problems for me and what may the managers and customers think about it as this will become really well visible?

    4. And my last silly question I haven’t found an answer yet – The club is asking also two-girl shows then what are the general guidelines for it? How much direct contacts, maybe also some sexual stage acts between girls, I don’t know? Maybe it depends much on club but do you know what is the usual typical scenario?

That’s all from me. Sorry if my questions sounded maybe too sexual all but I had to ask them. I think they all are still on-topic here. Also I’m sorry for my not-perfect english but hopefully you can understand my thoughts. Thanks.

  41. Alia on June 14th, 2010 7:29 pm

how old is too old to dance? Are cocktail waitresses (sp) also dancers taking some time off stage?

  42. mia on June 15th, 2010 10:05 am

    Hi Julia

Thank you for your email. I can understand it may not have been easy for you to say all that, so it will be good for all the girls to here the answer to those questions

    1) Vaginas or pussy’s come in all shapes and sizes. You will not be judged for anything as they have seen it all. And what you will find is that men love them no matter what shape or size. It will more be important if you are toned and fit
So do not worry about that. technically you will be fine and aesthically you will be fine also. The lips are fine, working in a club you will realise that people have different lip sizes and some hang out and others do not…it really does not matter

    2) You hair down there can be shaved, but if you would like some coverage, i would recommend you have some hair in a strip known as the brazilian.
This will keep it looking neat and also cover up lips if you want it too.

    3) I doubt during your audition show you will turn yourself on as you will be nervous, but even if you do, who cares. This is a strip clb where sexuality is key so don’t worry about that either
And in the club while you are doing the show and really get into it, you will proably make more money as most girls are switched off and go through the motions
If you are really worried, just make sure you do not stimulate yourself by rubbing on anywhere

    4) Two girl shows depend mainly on the club you are in to how far they go…it usually is a simulation of sexual palyfulness between the girls, but there may be clubs where more happens

This is totally at your own discrettion whether you want to participate or not. It is totally up to you

I hope that answers your questions and makes you feel relieved.

    Hi Alia,

I have dancers in my club who are in thier 40’s and look fantastic. as long as you look good, it doesn’t matter.

Soem cocktail waitresses are ex dancers and some are not. It makes no difference as both jobs are completely different, I usually find that cocktail waitresses cannot bear to take off all thier clothes and would love to have the guts to do it. Not all but a lot of the girls at work I talk to

    I hope that helps

Hie my name is elizabeth my question is that i realy want to become a stripper i alway wanted to become one but i have a little bit of a tummy i mean when am standing it doesnt show but when i sit down it sort of hang out its that a problem…another thing in the first audition is it a guy or a girl…last thing in the audition wat happen if i mess up or if i dot move rigth

  45. mia on June 16th, 2010 11:15 pm

    Hi Elizbeth,

You can work on your tummy, by doing stomach exercises and burning fat with cardio exerceises. And as it doesn’t show when you are standing, it will more then likely be fine

Most girls have some fat when they sit down. Its ok

The audition can be in front of a boy or girl

If you do nt move right, you will be forgiven as most clubs hire new girls. Just practice by looking at the videos I have in me free 5 part course when you sign up

    Good luck

I have worked at a few clubs last year. I am not going to lie, I am absolutely terrified to do it again because I haven’t done it since last year. Do you think it’s better to concentrate on private dances rather than the stage because I am terrified when I am put into rotation?

  47. mia on July 13th, 2010 11:07 am

    Hi JC

I understand about becoming terriefied when you haven’t done something for a while. What I have found usually though is that the thought is actually worse then the actual experience.

Some clubs will insist that you have to dance on the stage and you will need to do private dances to make money

So what I would suggest is realise your fear and realise that it is normal. Tell yourself you have done it before and you survived.

Also you sometimes just need to jump in and you will realise that it is not so bad. When you just think about it, it can be built up into something so huge, but when you do it, you will realise that it is no big deal and that 1000’s of girls do it and survive

If you also want to dip your toe in you can ask the club you start at if you can not be put on stage for a few days and aclimatise yourself to the whole procedure

I wish you luck and let us know what you do

We all will want to know

These really are some great tips. I can’t wait to put some into practise :) Thanks

    Hi Mia,

I have a question I hope you can answer. If the club you’re dancing at calls themselves a topless club, and does not say nude stage dancing, or nude lap dances, does VIP count?
If a customer offers to pay me to take off my bottoms would I be allowed to in VIP? Is it my choice and whatever I’m comfortable with, or will it most likely break the rules of the club?

    Thank you so much!
    Your blog is amazingly helpful!
