The lifelines for any stripper are Clothes, Make Up & Hair, Shoes.
Stripper Look Tips #1: Your Clothes.
When you decide on your look, you will first need to find out from the club that you decide to work at what the dress code is. In Some clubs you may have to wear
1) long dresses
2) short dresses
3) bikinis
4) any stripper outfit
Make sure you find out before buying anything. If you can go to a shop and buy your outfit, that is the best as you can try it on, but if there isn’t a shop where you can buy these clothes where you are, order on the internet. Make sure you order from places that will accept a return. I have put people on the site that I know are good and do accept returns
When you find out what you can wear at the club, also find out what type of underwear/thong you will need as there are laws in certain places which restrict the kind of thong you can wear. Also find out if there is a minimum heel you will need.
When you do buy something which you like make sure it showcases your best feature. If you are a legs girl make sure you have a short dress or a long one with a very long split. If you have a great cleavage (lucky you!) then buy an outfit which emphasises your chest. Also buy something which makes you feel sexy, as your confidence will shine through
Make sure that you can remove it easily without having to fiddle too much. In fact before starting work, practice taking it off smoothly while moving. It will make you feel confident when you do it in from of the customer
Buy at least 2 garters. If you do not know what they are, go to a lingerie shop and ask for one, they will tell you what it is, or lookit up on the net. When you put it on wear it where you can see it and you are aware of it, usually your money will be attached to it. If you are allowed a purse try and get one which you feel comfortable holding and literally become part of your extended arm…you will want to keep hold of that purse for dear life.
If you are not allowed purses a great way to hold your money is on a garter. Fold it over your garter in half and put a rubber band around it. Make sure it is tight.
Stripper Looks Tips #2: Your Hair & Make Up
Make sure you buy make up that is of good quality, since you will be wearing it for hours, you don’t want to get spots. Buy the best foundation that matches your skin colour (or your tanned skin colour) the best.
Emphasis your best asset…whether that is your lips or your eyes. In fact experiment for a week with different looks and see what works best for you.
In a dark club you will need to put make up on darker than usual. Do not worry if in the changing room you look like a drag queen. Just check what it looks like in the club.
Make sure you take all your make up to the club asyou will need to touch up during the night, make sure you also take nail varnish and remover, tweezers and make up remover.
A lot of girls wear false lashes. This can look fantastic if you use the right leghnth. My advice on this is to experiment. Also practice wearing them before work as they can feel heavy and irritating on the eye if you are not used to them.
Make sure you get your nails and hair done before working. Your hair should look and smell great. Make sure that it looks like it has been done, not just like an ordinary girl- you need to look special
Do not wear any slippery lotion or oil that may get the pole slippery and cause accidents
Stripper Looks Tips #3: Your Shoes
Make sure you have asked the club what type of shoes you have to wear. If you don’t have to be particular, make sure you try on as many as you can. I personally look for ones with a strap and a 3-5 inch heel. Make sure you practice dancing around your house for hours before going to work.
I would also buy non slip pads to put on the bottom of these shoes so that when you dance on stage there are no embarrassing falls.

Eyelashes are a MUST! I had one flamboyant manager in San Francisco who always said, “Girlfriend…I don’t care how long your lashes are…they aren’t long enough!”
And don’t forget…above everything else make yourself stand out! I tend to wear long flowing robes when everyone else is wearing a skimpy bikini.
Hi Mia,
Your blog is so helpful! I have a question (and maybe a blog idea for you) – what kinds of exercises should strippers do to do the kinds of things that can make us more successful?
I imagine for certain floor moves, the push-up, and some kind of exercise allowing us to lift ourselves on the pole better… what else do you recommend?
Ambrosia
Hi Ambrosia
Thank you. I am so glad it is helpful for you…and it is a good blog idea….maybe i can answer it here and perhaps have comments on it?
For pole exercises i would definatly build up arm stregnth so that you are able to lift your body weight with your arms. I would recommend using a bar and trying to pull yourself above it like chin ups. I would also make sure all the muscles in your arm are worked out, including your wrist, arm and biceps and triceps. If you need exercises that do this i would recommend getting a trainer for one session and ask which exercises are best for these areas. I use weights in my hands and rotate my wrist with them in my hand both clockwise and anticlockwise. Also I would use exercise machines in the gym to build different parts of my arms and shoulders.I also would get my back stronger as you want it to be supporting you while you are flinging yourself on the pole. I would also increase your flexiblity by stretching in the morning before you get out of bed. I have a friend who got to do the splits in 6 weeks by doing beyond comfortable stretching in the morning while she was in bed…i was amazed! If you do increase your flexibilty you can be impressive on the pole by doing splits etc
As a dancer i learned that it is really important to also make sure your ankles are strong by doing ankle rotations. This will help you grasp the pole with your ankles and also will allow you to keep sturdy in your heels even if you do trip up
I hope that helps and i would love feedback from anyone who has some ideas
Mia
Hi, though I am a male, I have some experience in the exercises you need. They have foundations in basic acrobatics, aerialist, and circus work. As Mia said, arm strength is key, and pull ups and other inversions hanging from a horizontal bar are very good for this. This will also help you with grip strength, which is just as important.
The other place you will really want to concentrate is your core / soaz muscles. This will allow you to gracefully come out of backbends, and to pull your torso up vertical while hanging upsidedown, without having to use your arms.
A great place to learn these skills is a local circus school, most big cities (SF, NY, ATL) have them, where you can practice on swinging trapeze and hanging silks. Once you’ve mastered these dynamic aerial apparati, a fixed pole will seem simple and fun! If you don’t have a circus school around, install a pullup bar or a swing from a tree or high cieling and practice on that. Or, just go to an advanced yoga class.
Mia, thank you so much for this site, it is a real eye opener!
Best,
Theory
Making yourself stand out is important. Don’t feel like you have to “fit in” – the strip club is not the place to conform!
Thank you Theory and stripperwear
When you applay the to become dancer do the have to fill out the application as regular job. thank you leaxy.
Hi LEaxy,
In most decent clubs that are run properly they will ask you to fill out details so that they can check you are legal and able to work in USA. This is for thier protection. If they do not, I am sure the club also allows other things to slip by them as well
Good luck
Mia
This was a superb article. I have been dancing for several years and Image is everything. After a while I found my creativity outgrew the local clothing and shoe shops.dancersers today need to stand out at prices that are afordable. After all the first rule in business (even the dancing business) is ‘It is not what you make, it is what you keep!
Thank you Anastasia,
You are so right!!

I was going to write a similar blog concerning this topic, you beat me to it. You did a nice job!
I have a strange and embarrassing question – what do you do if it’s “that time of the month”???
Do you just give up your income for a week? Are there secrets that the older girls know of? Especially if you’re working in a nude club?
Sorry, but somebody had to ask!
Hi Newbie,
That is a great question,
some girls just do not work, and others use a Tampon and cut the string so it is really discreet…although be very careful doing this to make sure you can take it out again…some girls have also dyed the string to match with thier own pubic hair using vegetable dye so that it is safe
Thanks for asking
Mia xx
Are there dancers with short hair? I’ve only ever seen flowing locks.
I’VE BEEN A DANCER AS WELL AS A SHOWER PERFORMER FOR HEAVY METAL CONCERTS IN FLORIDA FOR 11 YEARS. I HAVE ALWAYS HAD VERY THIN STRAIGHT HAIR LONG HAIR AND I WEAR A FEW ROWS OF CLIP IN LONG EXTENSIONS, MY HAIR IS ALSO DYED BLOND. I ALWAYS MAKE BETTER MONEY WHEN I TAKE THE TIME TO PUT SPIRAL CURLS IN IT, BUT IT TAKES ME ALMOST 2 HRS TO DO MY HAIR WHEN I CURL IT USING HOT ROLLERS AND A CURLING IRON AND SET IT WITH AUSSIE HAIR SPRAY. AND I HAVE TO KEEP RE CURLING IT SEVERAL TIMES DURING MY SHIFT AT WORK. SOME DAYS I DON’T HAVE THE TIME TO DO IT OR I JUST DON’T FEEL LIKE DOING IT. MY QUESTION IS, IS THERE A BETTER, FASTER WAY TO SPIRAL CURL MY HAIR THAT WILL ACTUALLY HOLD FOR A WHILE AND WITH MINIMAL TOUCH UPS? CAN YOU SUGGEST A BETTER TECHNIQUE OR STYLING PRODUCT?
Hi Kit
There are loads of dancers with short hair.
I think a short haircut done in the right way can be very sexy
Look at Meg Ryan when she was younger
Miaxx
Hi Carla
In terms of your hair,
Have you thought of getting a perm?
It will be less work and a loose perm will give you a spiral look
But your way seems like a lot of work
I hope you try the perm way
Good luck
Mia
Hi Mia,
I was just curious if someone can be “too tall” to be a stripper. I’m 5′11″. Even with 3 inch heels I tower over most guys. It doesn’t help that I’m pretty self conscious about it as well. I know that a lot of guys like tall girls, but is 5′11″ too tall?
just to add on about to do with long hair and how to keep your curls.
I don’t dance but I’m a cosmetologist and have really long hair. There are a couple things.
Don’t wash your hair as much like every two days
Kendra 23 is by far the best hairspray I have ever found.
Amazing!
also when your hair is damp not wet, add in stying lotion
enjoy has a great one, but may he a lil tricky finding because its so new but
Amazing!
Have u tried barrel curls?
Have u tried a curling iron?
they will hold better
What’s ur pitch for gettin lap dances and VIPs… Sexy, cute, funny, seductive, horny, carefree???? The lust can go on! I’ve been dancin for almost a year and still haven’t found out the trick
Hi Eva
No you are not too tall
You will fulfil teh guys supermodel fantasy
Also the girls who are tall in my club wear flat shoesif teh club allows it…see what your club says
otherwise just flaunt your tallness….trust me they will love you
Good luck
Mia
Thank you so muck Allison
really apprecite the tips
Mia xx
Hi LAysha
The tip is to tailor yourself for the customer. If you really want to learn the person I have to send you to is Jessica. She teaches girls how to get the VIPs and she tailors it by finding out what you are doing wrong/right so I cannot help you as she can. With me she actually changed my beliefs and thoughts about guys and that changed my earnings.
I wish I could help more but I cannot really know what you are doing so can only give you limited answers. But I hope you learn from her and come and give us an update
Mia xx
